These Incan or Golden berries (Physalis peruviana) are raw, wild-crafted and carefully sun-dried. The Goldenberry is an annual herb indigenous to many parts of the tropics, including the Amazon. It grows up to one meter high, bearing small, cream-colored flowers, and produces small, light yellow-orange, edible fruit. The dried Goldenberry is a succulent golden fruit the size of a dime. They are protected by papery husks akin to tomatillos. Dried, they make a delicious, tart, and highly nutritious and exotic citrus flavored "raisin." They are a good source of bioflavinoids, phosphorous, pectin, vitamins A, C, B1, B2, B6, and B12. For a fruit they are also exceptionally high in protein, about sixteen percent. Our Goldenberries come to you directly from the families in Peru who harvest them using sustainable methods which have been used for generations. They are guaranteed to be free of heavy metals, chemicals, and pesticides. Goldenberries make great nutritious snacks for kids and can be used in a wide variety of recipes, such as, smoothies, pies, cookies, energy bars, and desserts.
